The Ocean To Lake Greenway Celebration is a weekend filled with outdoor recreation activities on all our Greenway lands. The Celebration is April 20 - 22, 2007, and will have outdoor recreation activities that everyone can participate in.

The Greenway consists of a contiguous swath of 140,000 acres of public parks, natural lands and rights-of-way that extend between Lake Okeechobee and the Atlantic Ocean. The lands are in both Martin and Palm Beach Counties. Some are well established areas such as Jonathan Dickinson State Park and both Dupuis and Corbett Wildlife Areas, while others were purchased fairly recently as part of efforts to protect open spaces and natural areas, and to preserve lands needed to restore the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River.

Hikers - hike the Loxahatchee River corridor on Sunday, April 22nd. Hike starts at 8:00 am at Riverbend, ends at Jonathan Dickinson State Park river area.

Check-in at 7:30 am at Riverbend Park entrance parking lot.

Horseback Riders - ride one day, two or all three! Ride starts at Dupuis Friday April 20, last day ends at J.D. State Park.

Geocaching - explorers get ready! New caches are being set throughout the Ocean To Lake Greenway. Visit the most and report your findings at our Celebration at J.D. Park on April 22nd. No registration required.

The Celebration will provide events for both amateur and experienced recreational athletes. Distance events include backpacking, horseback riding, off-road bicycling, and paddling. Many of the distance events include opportunities for camping, and because of the "one-way" nature of the Greenway, shuttle transportation will be arranged back to the trailheads on a daily basis.

Special daily activities will also happen on Saturday, February 24th and Sunday, February 25th - which will include interpretive nature hikes, birding adventures, and bike tours. Special lectures and clinics will also occur on such topics as bats in Florida, native edible plants, and other "introduction to Florida outdoor recreation" topics.
